The scientific name for temporary intense hair loss is telogen effluvium. Hair may appear lighter and softer, especially on the sides and head surface. You’ll notice this because you have a lot more hair on your crest or floor than usual.

Normally, 90% of the hair grows on our head and the remaining 10% is in the catagene – rest phase. These 10% hairs fall out every two to three months, allowing new hair to grow in a fallen spot.
